第二類條件句
The Second Conditional
第二類條件句用於描述現在或未來不太可能發生、與當下事實相反，或婉轉的忠告。它是一種非真的、假的、想像的、不可能的假設語氣。文法結構為從屬子子句 If 子句中使用過去簡單式，主要子句則會出現助動詞 would/ should/ could 外加動詞原型。如本課例句 If an emergency during take-off or landing caused the lights to suddenly go out, no one’s eyes would be adjusted making it harder to evacuate, especially in 90 seconds。這句屬想像的假設，因為 if 子句跟現在的事實是不符合的，沒有真正的緊急事件發生。
### 例句
- If you were nicer to him, he might lend you the money.
如果你對他好些，她可能會借給你錢。(事實上你對他不好，他不太可能會借你)
- If I were a guy, I swear I'd be a better man.
如果我是男生，我發誓我會當個更好的男人。(說明此句的人是女生，這就是與事實相反的假設)
- If I won the lottery, I would buy a big house. (I probably won't win the lottery)
假如我中樂透，我就會買個大房子。(實際上就是你沒有中樂透，也不太可能買大房子）
