名詞子句

Noun Clause

「名詞子句」是指能扮演名詞角色的子句，可以做為主詞、補語、受詞使用，由 that、if、whether、where、when、how 等字開頭，例如影片中講者說 You have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.（你要相信在未來，這些點會以某種方式連接起來。）一句中，that the dots will somehow connect in your future 為名詞子句，作為動詞 trust 的受詞。如果 that 開頭的名詞子句作為受詞，that 可以省略，所以說 you have to trust the dots will somehow connect in your future，動詞 trust 後方沒有 that 文法上是正確的。 我們來看另一個例子：They (your heart and intuition) somehow already know what you truly want to become.（你的內心和直覺在某種程度上已經知道你真正想成為什麼。）這裡 what you truly want to become 也是名詞子句，作為動詞 know 的受詞。雖然以疑問詞 what 開頭，講者並不是在問問題。
