間接問句

Indirect Questions

所謂間接問句，就是將一個問題嵌入一個句子之中，形成直述句。 例如影片中：I don’t know how I feel about chewing these weird gummy things. （我不知道我在咀嚼這些奇怪的、像軟糖的東西時有什麼感覺。） 這句就是把「我在咀嚼這些奇怪的、像軟糖的東西時有什麼感覺？」這個問句，嵌入另一個句子成為談話主題。因此，整個句子便不再是詢問答案的問句，而是陳述事實和感受的直述句。 倘若把此句還原成兩句，概念上是： 1. How do I feel about chewing these weird gummy things? 2. I don’t know the answer to the question. 又或是另一句：I don’t know whether to swallow them, or just like, let them hang out in my mouth. （我不知道應該要把它們吞下去，還是就讓它們在嘴巴裡。） 其中 “whether” 代表 「是否」之意，也可以用 “if” 來表達相同的概念。 倘若把此句還原成兩句，概念上是： 1. Should I swallow them, or just like, let them hang out in my mouth? 2. I don’t know the answer to the question. ☆須注意，一般來說，問句的動詞或助動詞會在主詞之前。不過，在與其他句子合併改寫為間接問句後，主詞需要在動詞或助動詞之前。 例如：How do I feel about chewing these weird gummy things? 此時的問句，助動詞do在主詞 I之前。 I don’t know how I feel about chewing these weird gummy things. 形成間接問句之後，助動詞去掉後，主詞I 在動詞feel之前。
